UPDATE

Hello Everyone!

I hope finals are going well. I wanted to update you on the events we have planned to finish out the semester and the year. There is a lot of information to look at towards the end but I'm hoping you will have the time to look at it over the break.

BOOK BUYBACK
  • Happening NOW through DEC 17th 8am to 5 pm on Main Campus Chastain is on Monday
  • If you would like to help out: you can help solicit books in the book buy back office (just ask if students would like to donate the books that can't be sold)help box books at the end of each day (or anytime really) Dr. Cronin has boxes in her office (B110)

VISITING THE VETERAN'S HOSPITAL

  • Thursday December 17th MUST have filled out forms for the trip already
  • LEAVING at 10 am from school in a van ** You MUST go with the group** Contact Gail ecogail@gmail.com with questions
  • We are taking non-denominational cards to the hospital if you would like to fill one out please e-mail Gail by TUES DEC 16th to make drop off arrangements

OTHER

  • NEXT MEETING JANUARY 14th 2009 2pm E103
  • New Point System in place to Reward Active Members
  • Nu Iota is in 2nd place for the club with the most points, with 300 points. (more than 3 times the recorded amount for last year) CONGRATS (make sure that you let an officer know when you participate in an on campus event)
  • This is an approximation of how the new internal system will work it is still a work in progress

Meetings = 2 points

Fellowship Event = 3 points

Service (sponsored by IRSC or another club) = 3 points

Service ( PTK Event) = 4 points

Scholarship ( presentations etc) = 5 points

Conventions = 5 points

Other things will be decided as they come up.

  • We are taking design suggestions for the 2009-2010 T-shirt for Nu Iota. We would like all idea submissions by the first meeting January 14th. We still have the current Nu Iota shirts for sale $10 ( Large is sold out) please e-mail Shyanne at shyannehelms@aol.com to purchase.
  • We also have the PTK shorts and some bracelets available. Contact Shyanne for more information.
  • Rummage Sale - probably in early February. If you have something you would like to donate and CANNOT keep until then please let one of the officers know so we can find a place to store it.
  • OFFICER POSITIONS - We will be looking to appoint the 2009-2010 officers in late March or April. Please be aware of this and get involved now if you're interested.
  • We have also appointed a Parliamentarian, Carine Benjamin who will be helping us stay on track at the meetings and replacing Gail as our CCG Representative.
  • LEADERS OF PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP- Current members, who do NOT hold an AS/AA already and have 36 or less credit hours at the end of this semester are eligible for a scholarship to help pay for next year at IRSC.   • Nota Bene This is a publication put out by PTK of original writings. They can be short stories, poems etc. The deadline is March 2nd. Please look into entering if you write at all. http://www.ptk.org/publications/notabene/notabene_info.htm for more info.
  • You should be receiving your certificates in the mail soon if you have not already. Please take your number to https://www.ptk.org/getconnected/ to log in and get all the updated information on scholarships and discounts available to you as a member.
